Oct 4 1872 -
The town site of Huxley, Nebraska was surveyed and a plat recorded with the Clay County Clerk on October 4 1872/. Huxley was situated on the Burlington & Missouri Railroad line in the SE quarter of the Section 6, Township 7, Range 5, and located 1/4 mile east of the present town of Saronville.
The town streets in Huxley were given the inventive names of A, B, C, ..... with the avenues assigned in numerical order. Records state that the streets, avenues and alleys were laid out with black walnut stakes being driven at the front corners of each town lot by the B & M Railroad Company. Apparently the town was surveyed in a hurried fashion, probably in hopes of developing into a railroad station.
July 14 1882
Huxley, Clay County, Nebraska did not develop and the town plat was never indexed against real estate. The Huxley town site was thus vacated and taken off the records January 14, 1882. The B & M Railroad Company gave the letter "H" to the present town of Harvard, Nebraska located 8 miles west of Huxley.
