The Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church of Huxley, Clay County, Nebraska was organized December 6, 1872. An estimated 10 - 12 deceased members of the church were initially buried in a plot located north of the present church for a period of 12 years (1872 - 1884). After the Saron Lutheran Cemetery was organized and surveyed for use in 1884, these bodies were exhumed and transferred to the present cemetery.
There are no records available of the deceased buried in the Saron Churchyard Cemetery. Loved ones were often buried in the family homestead lot as was the custom in early pioneer days. However, the following persons (13 children and 3 adults) are recorded deceased prior to and including the year 1884, that is, from 1875 to Aug 21 1884.
Used with permission from pg 41 - Saron Lutheran Cemetery 1884-1988- compiled and published by Jeannine Hultine Bauer September 1988.
