The Glenville Bee Friday June 8 1900 pg 8 LETTER FROM MR. BRUNS He writes to Daughter Teda and Grandpa Hinrichs New York, June 3, 1900. Dear Children and Grandpa. We hade a nice trip on the road and arrived here at 4 o’clock. The baby and Heini are healthy and have played all day. New York is a fine city. We stopped at Peoria and Emden a couple of days and they seemed much pleased that we did so, even for so short a time. Your mamma can run like a rabit, if necessary and she thinks she will not get sea sick. We have already been on a steam boat and she enjoyed it as much as any of us and stood it nicely. Mr. G. Hinrichs and wife and also Mr. And Mrs. John Goldenstein are all well and hearty. We have seen the steam boat, “Kaiser Wilhelm der grosse;” it is the finest ship we ever seen. Tomorrow we will try and see a portion of this great city. It does look wonderful in the evening with all the lights, boats, street cars and horseless wagons. It looks like the entire city is on wheels. Some street cars have wings and fly way up in the air. This is enough for the present, will go on the ship Tuesday morning at 10:00. Will write you more from Bremen. With best wishes, Your Ma and Pa. ![]() |
