Death of Mrs. Jas Helton - January 1 1896 Vol VI #1, Fairfield News-Herald, pg 4

Word was received yesterday afternoon from Mr. Helton, Brownsburg, Ind, that Mrs. Helton died at 11:30 that morning. Her body will be brought back to Fairfield for interment.

Obituary

  Margaret A Larimore was born in Clermont, Marion Co., Ind., March 3 1840 and died at the residence of her sister, Mrs. Johan M Cor near Brownsburg, Ind., Dec 17th 1896.

  She united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Clermont, in her ninth year and continued an earnest and faithful worker in her Master's vineyard throughout her life.

  She was united in marriage to James Helton, February 8, 1870, and one year later removed to Vermillion County, Ill. Here they resided three years when again moving their faces westward they sought a home in Nebraska. They arrived at Spring Ranch May 7, 1874. In November 13, 1875, they moved on their homeland in Webster County and on this place endured and passed thought the grasshopper seasons, and similar privalon to which early settlers were exposed. In the fall of 1887 they moved to Fairfield that they might have better church and educational privileges. On Sept 16, 1896, she left her home in Fairfield to visit relatives and friends in Indiana and was taken sick at the home of her sister where she died.

  At all times she has met life's' duties as became a faithful, Christian woman. She was a member of and an earnest worker in the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society, also a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union and was universally respected by all who knew her.

  In Nov 1895 she was attacked with la grippe which super induced consumption of the bowels from which she suffered constant agony until the master called her to a higher life.

  Throughout all her sickness she displayed the patience, courage and reliance which characterizes the true type of a Christian and in the closing hours of her stay here her faith seemed to grow stronger as the end approached. She leaves a husband, Mother, three sisters and one brother, seven children and one grandchild together with many relatives and friends to revere her memory.
