St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery

Located Fairfield Township Section 20 North East Corner

By 1879, at a cost of $500, construction of a Catholic Parish in Fairfield was finished and dedicated in honor of Saint Aloysius.     Sometime after August of 1881, Owen Sweeney donated one acre of land and John Lenzen purchased another acre to be used for a cemetery.  In July of 1888, because of growth, Saint Aloysius Congregation purchased the first public school building in Fairfield and moved it to this property.  Over the years, the families were moving on to other places and in 1931 only six families remained.  It was unanimously decided that the church be closed and the building sold at public auction.  The following headstones are found.
