LANKA - Funeral at Baptist church Sunday at 10 a.m. Interment at Edgar.

Funeral Obsequies

Solemn were the moments when the last remains of Sadie J Stayner were brought into the Baptist church on Sunday morning at 10 o'clock. Every voice was hushed and every eye, was fixed at the beautiful white casket followed by her mourning friends and beloved ones. After the singing of the hymn, "In the cross of Christ, I glory," Rev J A Kleferle, pastor of the Baptist church, preached to a crowded house on Heb. IX 27-28. After the song, "Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine," the pastor gave a short sketch of Miss Stayner's life, which is as follows:

"Our diseased sister, Sadie J. Stayner, was born on the 15th of September 1871, at Montebello, Iowa. In 1885 she united with the Christian church at Edgar, Neb. She loved her Jesus, who died for her on the ..... cross for the .... of her soul. In him she ..... the center round which her life revolved, and her only desire was to be "transformed into the image of Christ from glory to glory" As God in his providence saw fit to draw her to Him into yonder realm. She died peacefully on the 24 of July, 1896, with congestion of the brain, at the age of 24.

May God comfort her mourning friends and beloved ones. May he give them strength to bear the heavy burden and unite with Job in saying "The Lord gave, the Lord taketh away, blessed by the name of the Lord".

The remains were buried in the family lot in the Edgar cemetery.
