Shelby County Herald in Shelby Missouri on April 20 1938 William Oscar Mcvey, son of Ruben and Martha Mcvey, was born December 18
1860 in Shelby County Missouri; passed away April 3, 1938, at 5:25 am.
at his home at Deweese, Nebraska, at the age of 77 years, 3 months and
15 days. He spent the most of his life in Shelby County, Missouri, Moved with his
family to Gordon, Nebraska in 1912 where he lived for 5 years, then
moved back to northwestern Missouri for a few years, then back to
Southern Nebraska, where he lived until death took him home. He was married at Nebraska City Nebraska Feb. 24 1886 to Mary Agnes
Brown. To this union were born seven children: Marvin Mcvey and Allie
Goff of Gordon Nebraska, Ruby Webber of Omaha Nebraska, Roy Mcvey of
Denver Colorado, Ernest Mcvey of Deweese Nebraska, Bessie Mclaren of
Omaha Nebraska. One son Johnie who passed away in infancy. There are five grandchildren besides his widow, children, and
grandchildren, He is survived by five sisters, Mrs. Eva Dodd and Mrs.
Mattie Gillapsy of Leonard Missouri, Mrs. Ollie Jones of Shelbina
Missouri, Mrs Lulu Neff of Atlanta Missouri, and Mrs. Annie Kenney of
Colorado Springs, Colorado. He gave his heart to Christ and joined the North River Baptist Church at
the early age of 14 years and lived a consitant christian life ever
since. He transferred his membership to the First Baptist Church of
Superior Nebraska in 1925 and attended church there as long health would
permit. He assisted in a Sunday school in precinct no. 20, Nuckolls County
Nebraska in the year of 1922 and was superintendant for a number of
years. He moved to his last earthly home in March 1927, and remained there
until Jesus called him home in heaven, a house not made with hands. Funeral services were held at his home at 1:30 April 5th with burial in
West Lawn Cemetery in Omaha Nebraska Wednesday afternoon. In our home his chair is empty And his face we see no more, Contact: davidcjr@cox.net |
